Cuba highlighted today the support of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) in order to implement a single window system for exports and imports of goods and services.
The methodology proposed by Unctad was the most appropriate to meet the country's commitments as a signatory of the international agreement on trade facilitation, said a representative of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment (Mincex), Vivian Herrera.
As she explained, the transfer of technology is assimilated by the Cuban company of computer applications Desoft, which executes the project of a single window for foreign trade (VUCE), adjusted to national characteristics.
The official presented the initiative to the national and foreign businessmen participating in the International Fair of Havana (Fihav 2018), whose sessions take place in Expocuba.
For the establishment of the VUCE, Mincex works intensively with 31 government authorities linked to the process of international marketing, and six other entities that require formalities, he said.
The first step consisted of drawing up a digital compendium of all the regulations in force; then it will be necessary to unify and simplify documents and, finally, to enable the remaining functions of a single window.
According to Herrera, the operation of the VUCE will save time, money and transportation, as well as increase the transparency of commercial transactions.
In response to Prensa Latina, the General Director of Foreign Trade of Mincex informed that the project could be ready by the end of 2019, but this will be subject to the availability of external financing, whose management continues at this moment.
