Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, Cuban Minister of Foreign Affairs, reiterated Cuba's support to former Bolivian President Evo Morales Ayma, who arrived at Mexico city last Tuesday as a political exile, after being victim of a coup d'etat that forced him to resign last Sunday.
The head of Cuban diplomacy expressed on Twitter the condemnation of the Cuban people to the repression and violence unleashed in that South American country, which he considered "an attack on the peace, stability and legality of that nation and all our America".
Upon his arrival in Mexico, Morales was received by Foreign Secretary Marcelo Ebrard, who welcomed the former president and assured him that "in our country you will enjoy security and integrity.
For his part, Morales thanked Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador and sent a message to the members of the liberation process, to the ministers who have not yet resigned: "We arrived healthy thanks to Mexico and its authorities.
Morales' daughter, Evaliz Morales Alvarado, former Vice President Alvaro Garcia Linera and former Health Minister Gabriela Montaño also accompanied him.
Morales became the first indigenous president in Bolivia's history in 2006 and launched a nationalization process of strategic sectors that boosted the growth of the GDP, with a rate of more than 4.5 percent between 2006 and 2018, period in which more than three million people were lifted out of poverty, according to official data. / ACN.
