To commemorate the 62nd anniversary of the landing of the Granma yacht and the creation day of the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR), the military act and the ceremony for the promotion of officers of this institution took place in Holguín, with the participation of Major General Rafael Hernández Delgado, head of the Eastern Army, and Rosa María Raez Abigantú, member of the Provincial Bureau of the Communist Party of Cuba, as well as other party and government officials and officials in the territory.
On December 2, 1956, 82 expeditionaries under the command of Fidel Castro disembarked on the south coast of eastern Cuba, an event that would mark the beginning of the guerrilla feat that would lead to the revolutionary triumph of 1959. For this reason it was decided to establish this date as FAR Day.
And within this framework, the ceremony of promotion to the next higher rank of officers who have fulfilled their mission in the preparation and defense of the homeland in different units subordinated to the Eastern Army was carried out.
The important political and ideological role that this institution has played in its officers was also highlighted, which guarantees the continuity of the Cuban Revolution and the protection of the people and of this land of great heroes.
